Monthly Meeting Recap - Oct. 4, 2016
DINA'S PIZZA & PUB
Review of Recent Events
>> Pancakes & Picasso / Dive-In Movie
Good turn out for P&P - about 75 people. Dive-In Movie - about 15 kids swimming - another few watching movie. Movie had to be moved to gym due to brightness. Weather was probably too nice - hindered larger turnout. Came to the realization that overall it's tough to do 2 events back to back. Inflatables were a hit. Christine (pool director) at Estabrook recommended a spring dive-in movie night - look into after winter events.
>> Raspberry Picking
Overall success -- 42 people including 3 families new to OBFG. Michael's Bakery donated 2 dozen cookies. OBFG paid for juice boxes - Next year consider doing September instead of early October. Next time encourage more of a gathering at the end.
Updates
>> OBFG to receive Founder's Award at OBCDC Annual Meeting
Congratulations to the group! From Jeff Verespej, OBCDC Executive Director: "The growth, commitment and success of the group is a testament to our neighborhood and should be commended."
All are welcome to attend the annual meeting and help us accept the award. Light meal and one drink ticket (cash bar after) will be provided.
Thursday, October 27th • 6-8pm
Cleveland Maennerchor (4515 State Rd.)
RSVP: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/T3RKP5N or call 216.459.1000
>> Facebook Rules
Much time has been spent putting together the rules for the group. OBFG attendees agree that rules are now set. Admins feel free to delete offending posts as necessary.
>> Basketball League
Ramses talking with Kim to set up January-March skills/3 on 3 session. Will know more soon. Falling under OB Education Summit.
>> Concessions at OB Soccer
Seems to be a no-go. Boy Scouts haven't been able to get it going.
>> Dance/Music/Arts Programs in OB
Also falling under Education Summit. Meghan researching dance programs. Kristen's Arts Renaissance Tremont connection. Estabrook - Cavs dancer holding classes (in building Friday from noon-7) - also Art Instructor (Wed. noon-7 - does home school program when home schoolers are using gym).
** Side note: Push to get more interest in Estabrook use; particularly for year-round swim lessons. Increased interest will increase staff/funding for programs.
>> Formalizing OBFG
OBFG has reached a point where we should consider opening a bank account and forming a board/leadership of some sort. Book and Kristen will look into bank account and Renee will bring info on forming a board. Jeff Verespej of OBCDC has offered input on how other groups have gone about doing this. Various ways to achieve structure.
